A small bright spot

Frank resting on couch

It has been a difficult few weeks. Things change fast with end stage liver disease, mostly for the worse.

For a while I was unable to digest fat. Combine that with feeling nauseous all the time, having almost no appetite, and my liver being unable to store energy between meals, and I was dropping weight and losing muscle fast. I had so little energy that I couldn’t sit up for long and spent all my time horizontal.

I discontinued a medication and that seems to have helped! I am now eating enough to maintain my weight and have a little more energy. Yesterday I actually walked home from several blocks away, the first time this year I have even been able to consider trying such a thing!

There has been other bad news, but I’m focusing on this bright spot. If I can maintain this for a while, maybe I can rebuild some lost muscle mass, which would be great!
